How to Create a Ranking

In this article, you will learn more about creating, editing, deleting, and adding items to your ranking Board.

Creating Your Board

1. Click on the "+" New Board button at the bottom right side of the app interface

2. Choose a fitting title for your board, e.g. “The Most Popular Breakfasts”

3. Help others easily find your board by choosing a specific category or general interest topic, to be used as a tag. If you don't have anything in mind, you can simply use the default "General" topic.

You can either select one from the drop-down list or add your own!

Available Ranking Board Types

Currently, there are two types of ranking boards you’ll be able to create as a RTG user:

  1. All-Time Ranking Board: a ranking board that will never expire, suitable for rankings of a permanent nature (e.g. the best paintings of all time)

  2. Limited-Time Ranking Board: a ranking board with an expiry date or active date range, suitable for rankings of a temporary nature (e.g. the best movies of 2025)

To adjust board type, use the Edit button:

Adding Items

Add the items to be ranked on your board by typing into the Item fields. Click "Add a new item" to add more items. For example, a "Top 15 Universities Ranking" board will need 15 items.

Edit Button

Use this button to edit any eligible board content. Please note that the Items on published ranking boards are generally restricted from further edits to protect voting integrity.

Delete Button

Use this button to delete board content.

Other Options

You can also adjust your board's visibility settings, and choose whether or not to enable open contributions (this option is set to default on select boards, e.g. paper telephone)

Viewing Your Boards

You'll be able to find all your boards in your Profile, or the homepage board scroll.

Modify Board Properties

To modify board properties (e.g. board type, category, active range, visibility (public/ private), enable/ disable open contribution), click on the Three Dot Menu from your Profile or the homepage board scroll to access the Board Settings.

Adding Items

After publishing the board, you can still insert new items using the New Item field. Simply type in your item and hit “Enter” or the + button. Click on the Edit icon to modify any items or the board title:

Viewing Your Boards

You’ll be able to track all the boards you have created from the comfort of your User Profile page, which can be accessed by clicking your user profile icon on the top-right side of the app interface ribbon,

Select “Profile” from the drop-down menu.

Modify Board Properties

To modify board properties (e.g. board type, category, active range, visibility (public/ private), enable/ disable open contribution), click on the Board Type Identifier to access the Board Settings dialogue box.
